The language game
http://greatlanguagegame.com/play/
Can you distinguish between languages? Test your skills on this site. Needs sound.
Languages
There are perhaps six or seven thousand languages in the world. Even so-called hyperpolyglots, people who learn to speak six or more fluently, barely scratch the surface. You and I will never be able to communicate in all these languages without machine aids, but learning to identify what's being spoken near us, that's within our reach.
The game
The Great Language Game challenges you to distinguish between some sixty or so languages based on their sound alone. In each game you're allowed three mistakes, which are kept for you to study at the end.
Let's see how clever you are, or how much you want to brag!

That's Korean, isn't it. I thought you spoke Japanese?
By the power of the internet, I've translated it.

Off to update my short-term targets.

Re: The language game
It is, and I do, but my next target (damn, I left it off the list!) is Korean (after completing the absolutely bloody brilliant French course I have--Michel Thomas). Written Korean is incredibly logical and efficient (although not always, as is evident by your quote!); grammatically, syntactically and deferentially is very similar to Japanese, so shouldn't be so difficult (famous last words...).
Off to update my short-term targets.

Living in the UAE should help anyone develop an ear for languages. I don't think I'd have easily recognised Tagalog, Urdu or Sinhalese when I lived in the UK.
I lose lives because can't distinguish between Samoan and Tongan. Not a failing I am going to worry about too much though.

Just noticed the top score in 4050. That's a lot of lucky guesses.
Between a Slavic language and Tagalog its a piece of piss but between 4 regional Indian languages its pure guess work lol
