Default It's The Top 500 Movies Of All Time

As voted by readers of Empire magazine, including a number of directors etc.......

Have to be good films to keep Shawshank off the top spot........

Bit too much emphasis on recent stuff, and box office megahits, but a worthy list anyway.

Why are people so hooked into lists?

Like what you like. Do what you do.

If it doesnt conform, and why should it, f**k the lot of you

There are not 95 films better than that!

I hate lists!

Why are people hooked into lists, he asks............

......... then proceeds to comment on it.

It's a survey/poll thingy - it's mathematically impossible to agree with everything on it (10,000 readers voted) which is why it's just a bit of fun.......

I've just been watching Coyote Ugly on the telly - love the dancing/singing on the bar - but it's not a 'great film' - but I bet a few voted for it.

Me? I want to know why Field of Dreams isn't higher..........

Yeah, love iMDB - its brilliant. Once managed to 'update' a page on a film as I noticed a 'goof' and wrote into IMDB to add it to the the relevant section.

Yes I know, getting my anorak as we speak...

Just read through the Top Ten and quite like a lot of the films in there. Recently watched Shawshank again and introduced it to my 14 yr old son, who also really enjoyed it. Can't argue really with the No.1 spot.

Glad to see some of other fave films are at least in the top 100 - Treasure of the Sierra Madre and 12 Angry Men.

But I agree with NedKelly - like what you like, its all so subjective anyway.

Can't believe that 'Debbie Does Dallas' doesnt make the top ten !

The Yorkshire version was better 'Debbie Does Dewsbury' worked on a veg stall on the market and drank in The Black Bull, would never remove her 'moon boots' though !

Any list that has Casino Royale higher than the sublime Toyko Story, Yojimbo at only 96, Citizen Kane struggling to make the top 30 and the peerless In The Mood for Love nowhere to be seen is not worth anything

Was also watching it the same time as you were...
And to think that back in the day it had all the hype...

Sorry - I was not getting at you personally (not that I could anyway). I just get cross whenever I look at lists like this as I hardly ever agree with them. A fair amount of beer was involved before writing those two posts as well.

I agree with you re. Field of Dreams. You're just a big softie like me

And where's Jason and the Argonauts eh?
