It's The Top 500 Movies Of All Time
As voted by readers of Empire magazine, including a number of directors etc.......
Have to be good films to keep Shawshank off the top spot........ Bit too much emphasis on recent stuff, and box office megahits, but a worthy list anyway. http://www.empireonline.com/500/ |
Re: It's The Top 500 Movies Of All Time
Why are people so hooked into lists?
Like what you like. Do what you do. If it doesnt conform, and why should it, f**k the lot of you |

It's a survey/poll thingy - it's mathematically impossible to agree with everything on it (10,000 readers voted) which is why it's just a bit of fun....... I've just been watching Coyote Ugly on the telly - love the dancing/singing on the bar - but it's not a 'great film' - but I bet a few voted for it. Me? I want to know why Field of Dreams isn't higher.......... |

Re: It's The Top 500 Movies Of All Time
Just read through the Top Ten and quite like a lot of the films in there. Recently watched Shawshank again and introduced it to my 14 yr old son, who also really enjoyed it. Can't argue really with the No.1 spot.
Glad to see some of other fave films are at least in the top 100 - Treasure of the Sierra Madre and 12 Angry Men. But I agree with NedKelly - like what you like, its all so subjective anyway. |
Re: It's The Top 500 Movies Of All Time
Can't believe that 'Debbie Does Dallas' doesnt make the top ten !
The Yorkshire version was better 'Debbie Does Dewsbury' worked on a veg stall on the market and drank in The Black Bull, would never remove her 'moon boots' though ! |
Re: It's The Top 500 Movies Of All Time
Any list that has Casino Royale higher than the sublime Toyko Story, Yojimbo at only 96, Citizen Kane struggling to make the top 30 and the peerless In The Mood for Love nowhere to be seen is not worth anything :D
