Just want some information on a hotel which I am booked into stay this Friday for about a week. Its called the Regent Palace Hotel. Having never been in Dubai itself (passed through very quickly last September!!) just wanted to know if it was an ok place.

It's OK. Directly opposite the Bur Juman shopping centre, one of the main shopping malls, and not too far from the creek and central Bur Dubai. Close to Karama as well, for all your genuine fake watch and handbag requirements.

'Rockbottom' cafe / bar /nightclub is attached to it, plus some other restaurants and a filipino night club as well. Unlike some of the other hotels in Bur Dubai, it doesn't have a reputation, shall we say. So OK for a respectable lady such as yourself.

Agreed - nice hotel - not so sure about Rockbottoms though. A girl would not want to go there on her own but it is not nasty though. It had a very good fish restaurant when I was there last.

oh RB isn't that bad...it's just a lifely pub type thing...and if she doesn't like it she can easily leave and find somewhere else to go...

If you are booked in this Friday, head down, as a few of us are gonna be there for the karaoke...... You wont be able to miss us, just look for a group that look like the most unlikeliest of friends.....lol
