Abortions? What about infant mortality rates:
Year 1993 1999 2003 2006
Female Children under 5 - 42.10% 19.70% 36.60% 12.40%

Male Children under 5 - 29.40% 14.60% 24.80% 9.00%

The UK has the highest child mortality in Europe with 4.9 deaths per 1000. 0.49% in these terms.

Not actually sure I like my posts in one thread being taken to create another.

Yes you are correct child mortality rate is bad. It is, as everything else so much worse among the very poor.
Medical facilities vary tremendously from the world's best to disgraceful.

Two points-- During British time postgraduate education was not allowed, graduates had to come to UK for this, and many stayed on, as all will know. Losing a large pool of top doctors and their descendants, many of whom also became British doctors.

Also unfortunately too many private doctors in Indian cities are emulating USA and just demanding more and more money, even middleclass people have difficulty if they have no insurance.

Elsewhere many government hospitals are poor, fault of previous government. This will take time to improve.

Shambles or Paradise it is neither. Good and bad just like any other country, but I am proud of both my countries as you may have guessed:lol:

You're there to moderate, not carve up and reassemble as you see fit. No?

Even after all this time and generations of educated Indians, it is still the fault of the British. Sigh! How many times have I heard this over the years, like a broken record.

I thought you said this thread was for the original subject. If you decide to exercise your power to cut and paste our posts into a new thread because we're off-topic, at least have the decency to follow your own rules.

It wasn't dreadful, as gem implies it was brilliant.

I didn't say it was the "fault" of the British just explaining one thing that happened. The doctors didn't have to stay in UK it was a choice.

Are you saying it didn't happen? That post grad. qualifications were allowed.

It is 67 years, the original doctors staying in the UK have only just retired their own children are still working.

(PS. There were plenty of educated Indians before independence, the British did allow schools and undergrad. universities:lol: )

Not necessarily (and I certainly don't fall into that camp). When it crosses the line from a sense of satisfaction with one own's endeavours to a belief that one has done better than someone else and is therefore in some sense superior, then its wrong (I avoid the word sin because of its religious conotations).

It just jars with me when people in positions of influence (I'm looking at you, teachers) have no qualms about announcing their pride while also extolling Christian virtues on the other.

Plus, its Thursday, I've still got 2 1/2 days to go till my weekend, I'm off the booze and have given up the fags, and am still having to put up with idiots keeping their kids up till 1 am.
