Re: How Much do you Spend?
I try not to spend too much. I don't drink anymore, and I don't go out that much. It still disappears quicker than you imagine though...
Rent: 4700
Car: 1950
Fuel and Salik: 300
Mobile: 400 (I spend far too much on this at the moment. I really need to stop ringing friends in the UK when I walk the shops).
Food and toiletries 1800-2000
Money sent to the UK for bills there: 2000
So about 11,150 in total. I might spend another 500 on entertainment during the month, but it varies.

A pagoda? A large tower with tiered eaves??
That's going to dominate your garden somewhat!
Are you sure you don't mean a gazebo?

Re: How Much do you Spend?
I cannot believe you guys spend so little on groceries!
for a family of four we shop at carrefour / spinneys (in our version it is called Al Fair) and in a week we spend ± 1100 dhs per week purely on supermarket shopping.
we regularly spend ± 2000 dhs on books & dvds from Amazon each month.
staff salaries (nanny, driver, gardener) work out to be ±4500 dhs per month
and the rest we spend on nice holidays.
so most months we spend <15k dhs, but 2 or 3 times per year in a month we can easily blow 50k on a week's hotel plus flights plus grub for the four of us.
no diamonds, no bling, no mad clothes shopping (I still wear shirts that are more than 10 years old!), just different priorities.
oh, and "rent, schooling, energy bills and annual flights" are all paid for separate to my salary and directly settled, so it's easy for me to work out what I do spend money on. I reckon I save around quarter of a mil dhs per year. I use that to pay off chunks on the mortgage and to save for the future without a pension.
