On the contrary I think the UK has improved immeasurably since Scamp left it.

What has he ever said to indicate that? Or is that your default view of everybody over a certain age? 
My impression was that he was an occasionally insightful, rightish old curmudgeon whose first comment I recall was pretty homophobic.

London property market has been dead for the last 18+ months. Largely due to uncertainly over Brexit and forthcoming changes in BTL regulations.
There's some owner occupiers of good indigenous stock getting their country back, but they tend to put in lowball offers and are looking for distress sales.

Ilkley has much to commend it, mainly that it is far from the ghastly metropolitans and Home-Counties-dwellers. I would feel quite at home there surrounded bt fellow-reds and cricket worshippers.
