Yes oh yes, the previous posts will underline the current undertones.

I've lived and worked in Hong Kong,Manila,Muscat,Abu Dhabi , Bangkok , Jakarta , Copenhagen, Yemen and County Durham.
I've never met or been in the company of so many Pretentious wankers.....

Most of these people would be stacking shelves in ALDI if they were not taking money under false pretences here.

I've seen them all come and go over the years,if BRUNCH is what these people aspire to then f**k me the worlds better off without them.

Get a grip man, this place is going to spit you out faster than you can say.........'JBR'...........!

well...I've never been to a brunch so I guess I am allowed to stay then...

anyway, there are wankers everywhere aren't there...surely I didn't like everybody I met back home, and indeed I don't like everyone I meet here, but I would never say because of that that the place is full of wankers.
Also, you can't expect to build friendships like the ones you have back home, people you've met in school, through family and friends and have spent years with...and yet here you read forums where people have been disappointed after a bad experience with one or two people and immediately go, oh Dubai is such a horrible place, people are shallow, fake bla bla fcking bla...
Here you need to go out and about and meet a lot of new people to finally end up with a couple that are worth sticking around, it's like starting all over again in that respect, going out into the big bad world.
Most of the people I meet are 'normal' people that work here, raise their family and try to have a nice lifestyle, whatever that may be for them. Who are we to judge?
And the ones I meet that are pretentious saddos I take the piss out of, had a great night at the Buddha Bar this weekend just doing that, bring them on!

How sad that so many people have demonstrated the massive chips on their shoulders. I just don't get why so many get so aggresive if someone wants to spend their hard earned money on doing something pleasant with it. Like attracts like perhaps, which is why I have many lovely and unpretentious friends in Dubai who live 'normal' lives and enjoy themselves. Frankly, if you are not enjoying you rlife, what is the point of any of it?

Those that choose to be bitter/miserable/resentful/unpleasant/downright nasty/delete as appropriate will attract the same.

Ha Ha! My house was built a long time after the dimise of the outside bog! My Grans house in Widdrington had one though, I hated the wooden seat and the Izal toilet roll hung on a coathanger.:frown:

BTW I am NOT a smoggie..I'm just married to one.:)

If there is a ladies Corona club where you are based - be warned it will be full of snobbish women all trying to out class each other with phoney english upper crust accents. Really posh aristos don't go to work as expats ! ;)

My accent wasn't posh enough for the in crowd so I stuck with the outers, Ozzies and Kiwis and had a great time when I was in Mauritius ! :thumbsup:

Wow I can't believe I missed this row!

Good people come in all shapes and sizes and from all backgrounds and likewise bad people, being judgemental is the worst thing you can do, whether it be someone wearing polyester or someone getting out a limo, you can't pigeon hole people so easily.

I met a loooot of pretenscious tw*ts in london, I still love London though, and I have seen alot of people here looking down their noses at each other from dodgy bars to posh places, whether they be new money or old I choose not to mix with those types of people. The only reason people put other people down is to feel better about themselves, to make yourself feel self important and those are people I choose not to spend my time with. However i have also met some lovely kind people who have been a friend when I haven't known anyone- and those people have been from all walks of life. Everyone hates a flash harry but this place isn't entirely full of them and if they are maybe they just need a friend to bring them back down to earth....

Money doesn't buy you style! It only buys you a label.
