Seriously I don't know what it is but of all the British accents a northern Scottish one is most difficult to understand. Not only is it an accent but they change some of the word so it's like trying to understand a book after all the vowels have been taken out with a vivid marker .
Mind you had Bonnie Prince Charlie been able to convince his Jacobite army to march on London things might be different .
