Great Summer to be British don't you think?

How does that work? Isn't the transfused blood just a small fraction of the total volume of the person's blood? So this tiny fraction then gets diluted , so how could this ever work to mask drugs in the system? Also, isn't the testing done without prior notice or just with a moment's notice?

So... here is a thing that bothers me...
I'm quite sure Bolt is on drugs. How can he always do so well and smash records with such poor starts all the time? Objectively, pretty much every sprinter gets tainted by them eventually. So why not him?
So... how are these guys doing it, they are all being tested. Assuming no bribes and backhanders, what is it? Drug technology must have over taken the testers again for a bit.
The brit cycling team must have an advantage too, but how? I don't think its a mass drug taking campaign in the team but have we read something in the rules that others have missed?
I struggle to believe that you can simply throw money at facilities and produce medals. As others have said, we have brilliant facilities here in the UAE, yet no medals... When I do to the gym, I see very fit emitatis who have all the time in the world to train.

especially suited to sprinting.
So if there isn't a lack of Emiratis (and I presume the other GCCers aren't that different except maybe Qataris??) who are reasonably fit and resources necessary for being competitive in sports and athletics isn't an issue , then what's some possible reasons for the lack of a better showing? With the way Emirati society turns a blind eye to that which is beneficial to them but deemed illegal or questionable , why would drugs to improve athletic / sporting prowess be proscribed.

I think the numbers for the UK funding were equivalent to everyone in the country giving £1.06 to the Olympic funding.
I think the numbers I read for India were 0.06 INR per person (£0.00068).
Some simple calculations according to 2013 population figures means the UK spent a handful short of £68m and India spent £851,000.

No Third World country does particularly well, except for a few regular exceptions; those exceptions are mainly due to either a natural prowess for a particular type of sport, or a cultural leaning towards it. It's not difficult to see why the majority of Third World countries don't excel; you've cited one reason particular to India, but most of the reasons are common to either those countries in general, or specific groupings of them.

Tennis has always been at world level, mainly doubles, obviously cricket and hockey (although the latter not so much now), badminton. Athletics just a few women in the past have competed at Olympics, but no funding to follow it up.

It's well documented on the internet and elsewhere and was another illegal miracle by Dr Ferrari after they finally worked out how to test for EPO.
WRT team sky, I actually believe in Dave Brailsford philosophy of minor gains and we have used it successfully In our business (non physical) as a way of staying ahead of our competition. It's simply great use of advanced analytics to discover any tiny issue that can be eliminated.
Analytics are probably the source of 70-80% of internet retail success.

It wasn't a whole transfusion. It was building up red blood cells to a ridiculous level, nick a pint, keep it frozen and then substitute for a pint of clean during the race. Result? 8-13% greater use of oxygen for a few hours.

Does anyone feel cheating in Jamaica is sophisticated enough to utilize techniques Armstrong , others in the West , China and Russia have used?

No, they are faster because of their genetic make up. Thats it. No other reason. It's why you don't see any Jamaican swimmers.

Hmmm. And the English are genetically programmed to be good shopkeepers ? And to believe the nonsense they read in "The Daily Mail" ?
