How much, all in for say a family of 4 with both kids in school, would you say a "Featherbed package"is?

Now iI'm thinking around 40k base, 20k housing, 20k schools, 1 return business class for all the family per year and 5k transportation allowance.

What does everyone else think?

And more to the point, does anyone on here get near AED100,000/month?

I know I don't.
is there something you haven't told me ...

Mostly featherbeds around our way but that's the industry (which has it's own cons) my husband works in.

The flights issue is an interesting one Original because if you just take cash value a single person gets 20% of a family of five. But that's what flights cost and getting flights home is part of living in the region. If the fictional senior single person is bitter at least he/ she can comfort themself with some retail therapy on just themselves that the rest of their salary affords. We have some legal minded neighbours and there are quite often chats around that and schools fees as lawyers a) like a scrap and b) get paid in lump sums mostly*

*our neighbourly ones anyway

well, my company has limited the flights/fees/allowances to one wife (yes, that's an issue) and 4 kids. any more than that and you're on your own!

I pay 50kSAR pa for two kids in the elementary school (the best one in KSA - just to give flavour on the price level) and it doubles for upper primary. 20k pm just seems incredible but I believe you would find 10k pm secondary schools in Dubai.

If there is one thing that really gets up my nose on here is a poster boasting that their kids are at "the best school" in the country. What self-opinionated arrogance!

Don't know about featherbed packages, but the exchange is providing a pay rise at the moment.

Are you being serious? Any school can produce statistics showing they are the best in something or other. After all, the highest average grades for example doesn't necessarily mean its the best school.

Miss Anne Thrope is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Re: "Featherbed Package" How much?

Not having any dependants I prefer the all cash package that my employer offers after painfully dismantling the ludicrous legacy expat packages over 7 years ago now. As an employing manager I entirely fail to see why I should reward the fecundity of my staff. If anything it's an inverse predictor of productivity at work.

I made the point as we are discussing the price levels. What the hell is this to you if it is or isn't?
