Completely detracts from a squad of utter magnificance. Shame.

Sounds quite bitter but it's not meant to be. Just frustrates me because it detracts from the quality.

Such is eh.

I can honestly say that I have noticed very little of that during this superb tournament - from ANY team. The excellent Henry Winter, as usual, is who we turn to for perspective:

And on the BBC Sport website, the normally excellent (if a little hyper-intense) Garth Crooks has picked his 'Team of the Tournament' .......

... Jordi Alba... Iniesta... Xavi... Andrea Pirlo... Glen Johnson.....

UEFA's own Team of the Tournament:

(actually a 23-man squad)

Gerrard only England selection...... lots of Spaniards.............

Hart not one of the best three keepers? Arguable. Gerrard and Ibrahimovic only players not from semi-finalists.

See, and there was me thinking that was Man City's shopping list for next year.
