Standard of this competition is poor , any side with a half decent set up and plan can make the semis . Portugal in the semi's and haven't won a game yet in 90mins.

The format also needs looking at , no real desire for attacking football , 3rd place finishes in a group of 4 going through to knockout !! . The best footballing side i have seen were Croatia and they got potted !

I don't agree with that . International management needs a different mindset , some are just tuned into it , managing day to day is far different than seeing players once every 2-3 months. Hiddink / Del Bosque / Kinnsmann / Sacchi and even Joachim Low are adverts for that , the latter being a below average coach before going the German side in 2004

Hoddle has the mindset for that and is not drawn on affiliation for certain players plus he has the tactical brain for a system . His 98 side and the way they were set up was excellent.

I honestly think you have some rose tinted specs on for Hoddle mate.

I wouldn't mind being wrong, he's far enough back on the list of Saints manager's who've ****ed off for me not to hate him for that anymore.
