DVD Lady

Re: DVD Lady
I'm on Du - 16 mbps broadband. If I torrent without a Veep I'll get a max download of approx 100kb/s (I assume it's throttled) - if I turn on veep to LA or New York it'll regularly be 15 times faster.
We've had this conversation on the board before and seemed to be no definitive answers - but that's my experience....

Watch out, because most Veeps expressly forbid the use of P2P software (for legitimate or illegitimate reasons equally). If they catch you, they'll suspend your account.

balls.
To be fair they were very good about it - but firmly told - don't do that via our service...

Re: DVD Lady
They don't forbid it for legal reasons, they forbid it because Veep connections are contested: i.e. you share your bandwidth with other users. So just like airlines, Veep companies "overbook", i.e. sell more connections to a given server than that server could support if everyone connected at the same time.
P2P software tends to max out your connection to their server which is equivalent to more people logging in than normal, and if everyone maxed out their connection then we'd all get shit speeds. Which nobody wants.

In a nutshell:-
They said they had received a DMCA take down notice as one file had been tagged or marked as copyrighted material....
It was an auto email and basically said we'll never pass on your details etc but basically it's against our terms to breach copyright law but they support the legal use of P2P...

Never download a zip or RAR file.
Also get a decent virus checker.
