I follow the red and blue route above.
From the Marina to the Miramar in Al Aqah it takes me 1h 45mins door to door. If its early morning on a weekend I head up Emirates road until junction 119 then head up the crazy truck road. Then through the mountain road E87.
When I come back I go the same way until Emirates Road and then come off Emirates road at junction 103 ad head back on the 611.

Actually your suggested route TO Fujairah is exactly the one the hotel (Al Aqah Rotana) suggests..............

Just tried the truck route. It is more straightforward and possibly quicker if you are going to the more northern areas in Fujairah. It's fine for a day trip on a Friday when trucks are not using it as much. However we came back on a Saturday and although it is a single lane on each side with a speed limited of 8kph most people were using it as a four lane highway at speeds above 120kph.
I would avoid on weekdays. If you do want to take it it is exit 119 of the Emirates (now Sh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road E311).
