I would have to concur TGITs is worse than dog rough. Jockeys has a great group of regulars. Especially when I'm there lol
Anyway, best vale has to be girders in happy hour, McEwans piss is 11 a pint.
Sports bar, I don't think you can beat Goodfellas.
Best all round bar? Can't think of any round bars sorry.
Jockeys and Marine club for the extras you mention - great band in Marine Club at Seaview hotel too.
Best area I would have to agree and say Bur Dubai. Normal people, not poncy, good bang for your buck. So to speak.

I've never been to The Ambassador. Done the Imperial Suites/York/Astoria/Panorama etc. Never The Ambassador.

A lot better, beers cheap and the foods good....very good with the sports...and the crowd are pretty friendly.
No hookers allowed in! But as all hooker bars are within 10 mins no problem (oh you can take one in with you, no problem)

I'm looking at a 2 night stopover next weekend, staggering distance to a few of these less salubrious places would be ideal. Any recommendations on a suitable place to stay around AED300-400/night. Don't need anything fancy but I like my privacy and hotels that don't 'pester' the guests!

Ambassador Hotel, no door policy if you have a guest, and within staggering distance of all the less salubrious places!!

OK lets get our thinking caps on for the following;
1. Best Value bars - Depends on what you see as value. I think Music Rooms is great value during happy hour.
2. Best Sports Bar - Nezzas, AL Manzil
3. Best all round Bar Tough one, not sure...Nezzas good for sports and food, but that can be said for loads...
4. Best Bar with extra`s provided (you all know what I mean) - Seaview is good, York is a behemoth of a bar if you want wide variety, Ratsky's was quite fun.
5. Which area is the best for bars (Marina, Bur Dubai, Deira etc) - Marina for the poser stuff which is good once in a while, Bur Dubai / Deira for the more raucous nights out...I like all of them
