That's interesting. Expats never used to be able to buy/register pick-ups in any form in Qatar. Shame, as at the time I fancied a Land Cruiser pick-up with the 4.5 litre 24 valve engine.

having a pick up is illegal here in uae, but certain expats can usually get around this particular rule if its a sporty one, ie not the "working picks ups" etc.

Its so wide that with a Tiida next to it you can only just open the doors

The Tiida gets swapped for Mrs Tocks F150 next week, oops

Need a plan

Would it be wrong to ask Mrs Tock to leave her car in the sun all day ?

I think I know what is going to happen next Thursday
can you stagger the 2 cars so that you can get the front half in so not so hot?

As far as I knew it requires a trade license to buy a normal pick-up.

Only locals and companies can buy pick up trucks. I guess a F150 doesn't quite fit the definition of work truck.

One of the reasons I like to cruise in the third lane is the speed the Indians can get driving a Hi-ace (fully laden with grocery store products or fellow Keralites) whilst never leaving the two inside lanes.

it has always been in auh. there are ways around it so i am told but the for likes of the proper ford pickups not the cheap runarounds. think it may be because they are cheap and nasty and dont want everyone driving them around, there are enough of the work horses on the road as it is.

Do the po po's enforce the pick up rule tho? I regularly (twice weekly) drive around in a Hilux pickup and I have never had any issues. Obv its just a rental and not bought. Maybe its only a registration thing.

I hope my F150 has a better made gearbox than my Expy

still have the smell of 2 day old fried gearbox in my nostrils

Very upset given the bullet proof-ness of my old Expy

Given that I drive the Expy like an old woman and will hammer the F150 it best be built tough like the window sticker claims

Oh dear! Ford slushboxes! I cooked my Explorer's gearbox. Doesn't seem things have improved. Is it the 5 speed slushbox - an old 3 speeder with a pair of overdrives drafted on? As to the 'Built tough', my Explorer was covered in stickers saying 'Proudly union built'. If they were proud of that heap of shit, they must have had very low standards...

I couldnt believe how tough it really was until i hammered it off road. It just smashes through pot holes like they arent even there. Not so much as a rattle. My experience before off road was in 110s and i honestly thought the F150 was a much much better drive.

Try and keep it in 2WD as much as possible for proper fun. The weight takes care of it a lot.

Surely that's hardly surprising tho... Even though 110's were designed in biblical times and Ford trucks use technology from biblical times the materials and construction processes should make the F150 feel like a Bentley compared to a 110.
