So in the spirit of the 1st of December I, pyjama clad assembled my what looks to be highly flammable Carrefour Christmas tree. I then proceeded to adorn it with some rather fetching non shatter proof baubles. I am off out now to buy another box of baubles, some fairy lights and a star.
Countdown to Christmas begins!!!! Now show us your Christmas trees everybody!!!!!

No tree or decorations until at least 14th December.
I have found a highly appropriate gift for many BE posters though...

Is the putting up of Christmas trees at the start of December a fairly new thing? When I was a child we never put up a tree until a week before Christmas Day and I am sure that's what most people did. The whole event is stretched out so much these days that the day itself has lost any specialness.

Meow yes I'd say its a new thing, we were only allowed to put it up on xmas eve as a kid and I've always lived in houseshares til now so have complete freedom. They just make the house look so pretty! I left mine up til March one year, only took it down when friend pointed out I might look a bit crazy cat lady if I had any male company...

We're erecting the tree right now... well, I'm not, of course.

I'm always a week before and two weeks after.
But now. Here. It's going up tonight! The countdown to those 'ordinary' days I have to work, that my students don't even recognise when I ask them what 'special' dates are this month, is upon us, trolololol.
Bah, Saudi!

Always the first week of December since I was very young. Always has to be down before 6 January too - which of course is Orthodox Christmas. I only found that bit out after moving here though

Tree has gone up but it wont be decorated until 12th when my parents get here. The Mrs and my mother will get that job.
the cat seems to have lost interest in the tree, but I doubt that will last once the tree is decorated.
