Default Car Accidents

Two pieces of reporting in 7 days yesterday............

1) About the brit (papers words) that knocked over someone trying to cross the SZR 6 lane motorway and the report said she could get 2 years in prison and deported, her case comes up this month I believe.

2) About a gulf woman (papers words again) who was doing 140km per hr in a mini bus on the Al Ain to Dubai rd and killed 3 people, she was fined 20000dhs, a years ban and 200000 each blood money to each of the victims families.
No mention of jail at all

Which one deserves jail?

And if anyone had given the latter woman a particular hand signal they would have been deported.

Yeah, and who's going to pay for the damage to the car?

They make a right old mess as they go under.

I read these two articles one after the other in the paper the other day and was quite honestly gobsmacked that a woman can kill 3 people speeding and not do jail time; and yet there is a possibility that a woman could go to jail who was driving at the speed limit and was in no way (as far as I can make out) responsible for someone walking in front of her car.

And breath...

However, until we know what sentence the second driver is given we won't know the fairness of it. Unfortunately the papers here are full of shit and make assumptions all the time. I suppose in law there is a possibility of jail, however, it is probably up to the discretion of the Court and the circumstances of the accident.

I am worried if she is charged and maybe made to pay blood money that it may give the green light for a few more "accidents" on SZR.

In theory, she may have been trying to scare the guy, and ended up misjudging the distance....

And in theory, the van driver could have been -as reported- going over the speed limit but by on kph.

But if these are the kinds of contortions we get ourselves into to make the news report fit logic.... I dunno.
