1 reckon I could, but I wouldn't want to as it would be dull and monotonous. Shop in places like Union Co Op or Lulu and you can get very cheap rice, lentils and veg.

I'd struggle without tea and coffee.

Exactly. I make things like lentil curries and soups. Eat cous cous, tofu etc. lots of fresh fruit and veg from the vegetable market. Cook and freeze a lot. Cereal for breakfast, make my own lunches. Is easy to do with forward planning.

Reading the comments below that article make you realise the struggle a lot of people have here and how AED 6 a day for food is a reality. Excercises like the 5 days the ladies are doing in the article are all a bit pointless. Why only 5 days I wonder. A celebratory brunch on the Friday?

I don't see much point in this exercise - as you point out, I expect these women will do it for 5 days, then go on a bender brunch and pat each other on the back for a job well done.

My lads get a massive QR13.33 a day food allowance and seem to be getting fatter. I might try them on QR5 a day - Dan the fattest filipino tea boy will thank me for it i'm sure.
