Re: Bloody Middle Eastern drivers!!
I saw a local doing the drive on 2 wheels stunt around a roundabout by Al Ain airport when I was there a few weeks back. When I came out from a customer I was visiting in the grounds of the Airport he was upside down in the middle of the same roundabout. He didn't look to steady in the morning when I saw him doing it so guess he went back out on his lunch break for more practice. Ended up writing off his shiny black Super Safari instead!!!

MM, xx I was only answering the question that passengers can be distracting. They can. You don't agree with that? I never said because of that, passengers should be banned. You just jumped to that conclusion that if someone says something is unsafe, it should be banned. FFS - Life is unsafe.

It certainly can be, to a degree - especially people in the back seat and esp kids.
Banning passengers would simply be unacceptable to society. Much like saying driving is dangerous so we should ban that. We balance the risks we take with the benefits gained from those risks. |
Re: Bloody Middle Eastern drivers!!
you often hear expats over here saying how bad local drivers are. they wouldnt say that if they had lived in the Middle East.
However, having just been in China the Middle East is nothing compared to there! |

Re: Bloody Middle Eastern drivers!!
When in abu dhabi and using khaleej al arabi then mussafah truck road I would see an accedent to and from work nearly every single day. The worst was when a tiny blue sports car took on a truck and lost badly - the truck went over it. I'd only been here a week and i was really freaked out.
Usually the accidents were at the turn off for mussafah from 30th, from that junction onto the truck road and from mussafah to the bridge on the way back. The truck road seems to be a magnet for nutter driving. The other week I saw a driver comepletely lose control and spin across all the lanes right in front of me thanks to a tailgating bully from behind her crossed with a nasty little bastard who pulled right in front of her but wasn't going fast enough. I actually find the drive down the highway a bit less traumatic. |
