obvioulsy you were only "just" going over the speed limit, some of the "flying variety" going down wacky races will be getting more than a 600 fine. especially if bb said he was doing 180 earlier.

ah i think BBoy said he was doing 109 in a 100 zone, that would constitute as a little over no? My fines show i was actually on one occasion doing quite a bit over the limit and i still got a 600 fine, and another showed 12 more and i still got a 600 fine, so not quite sure how they decide what fine they do give you? Again no real logic applied

Re: Bloody Middle Eastern drivers!!
Thanks for the link, Meow.
There are three speeds on the ticket, 80, 101 & 109. Plod said I was doing 110 in a 100 limit before sitting in his car and issuing the ticket--presumably after logging into the system. We'll see. The 180 was my friend on his way to work on a stretch where there sneaky mobile cameras are relatively easy to spot (I, err sorry, he hopes).;) |
Re: Bloody Middle Eastern drivers!!
Forget the Middle Eastern drivers...many Brits here (UAE) should know better.
Just keep below the speed limits ..you'll still get from A to B and NO fines ! :) |

Apparently I went through a trap (WAS ON THE PHONE AT THE TIME) and first I knew was an ordinary white Toyota saloon behind me with a magnetic blue flashing light on top flashing his lights... Just as well they didn't catch me this morning at 180.

Sorry but absolutely no sympathy unless you were using hands-free at the time. Drivers using phones and/or over-speeding are the devils in disguise.:frown:

An earlier contestant, Mr BTB, was, however, unable to answer the question: "Then why don't you do just that?" |

And your chosen subject tonight, MacScot, is stating the bleeding obvious.
An earlier contestant, Mr BTB, was, however, unable to answer the question: "Then why don't you do just that?" Plus, when keeping within the speed limits, I mean the ones posted on road signs not when radar trap machines flash ! |

...it needs to be restated...can't get over the number of BEs here in the Middle East with speeding fines...I've never had one here (Dubai), Australia or the UK in decades of driving. Perhaps it is because I took advanced driving courses after passing my driving test.

Re: Bloody Middle Eastern drivers!!
On the Bahrain - Saudi causeway speeding is a necessity unless you have a deathwish! The speed limit is 120, but I would guess average speed is more like 170 (and this is calculated including the slow lorries going 80), maybe slightly lower on the Bahraini side.
One of my colleagues was stopped by Saudi police for speeding on the causeway and given a SR50 (yes fifty) ticket.... |
