11. Shouting "boo" first does not constitute surprise sex, it's rape.

Really? I would say that it pokes fun at a serious issue but each to their own I guess.

It is a spoof, in one sense - all the 'how to avoid getting raped' advice is usually aimed at women; this simply makes the very valid point that, if men stopped raping, there would be nothing for women to worry about.

I think it's very clever - and very accurate.

I agree - as parents (of boys, in particular for this issue) we have a duty to bring up our children to behave responsibly

I 'get' it, I just don't agree with you.

By your line of thought the same could be done for pedophiles.......

1. Remember not to rape a child.

etc.

See where I am coming from?

Then pull in, 2. Remember not to kill someone and we just end up with the ten commandments...

That's a completely different example.

Women who have been raped are often accused of 'provocative' behaviour ("She was wearing a short skirt, so she was obviously asking for it......." etc). This approach puts the responsibility back onto men not to rape, rather than telling women to 'avoid' being raped. I think it is very clever, and makes a point that is too often ignored.

The paedophile comparison is meaningless in that context.

I think is crass and deliberately provocative, which given the subject matter don’t sit very well. It also has an expectation of a level of intelligence and understanding of satire which I suspect the average person (never mind rapist) is unlikely to have.

Also, I’m not really sure where and in what context this could ever be used.

Well, the average person (who is that, by the way?) could simply take it literally, and obey the instructions............

Communications 101: If you have an extremely important message you should deliver it in multiple formats in as many ways as it takes to get it across. This means you may need to deliver the message in a language you don't speak. Do it anyway.

Personally, I quite like the way this message is being delivered. It would definitely sit well with at least one target demographic - smartass university students who are learning to see the world in so many shades of grey they forget that sometimes black and white is entirely appropriate.

How about: men should be held responsible for raping--no excuses taken, while advising women to take precaution at the same time? Does everyone agree with that?

No because that's too sensible!

Fair point, let's call them Sun and Daily Mail readers.

Or, perhaps more likely, be offended by the seemingly flippant attitude being taken to a serious topic, resulting in the meaning of the message being lost and replaced with indignant outrage.
