Adoptions etc. in UAE
Reading this article it struck me just how stupid some sharia laws are.
eg
and
Similarly
BUT
and
How ridiculously stupid are those "Rules" - esp the last para, if the foster mother can't then anyone else can - including his sister (as she would be).
No wonder the world according to Islam is so screwed up (pardon the pun).
Mental.
eg
Muslim women to cover up in the presence of men who are not relatives, which means that when a boy reaches puberty his foster mother must wear a hijab and avoid being alone with him.
Dubai Grand Mufti Dr Ahmed Al Haddad said there was no need for a mother or her daughters to cover up around a male foster child when he was small.
"But when he grows up to become an adult, women in the family must not reveal their attractive attributes in his presence, or be with him all alone," Dr Al Haddad said.
"But when he grows up to become an adult, women in the family must not reveal their attractive attributes in his presence, or be with him all alone," Dr Al Haddad said.
The rule applies in reverse with female foster children, he said. When a girl reaches puberty, she must cover up in front of male members of the family and avoid being alone with them.
Foster mothers can avoid the issue by breastfeeding the child before he turns 2. The boy then "lives normally as a member of the family", Dr Al Haddad said.
"When a woman breastfeeds a male baby he becomes her son by breastfeeding, and by the same token becomes her husband's son and a brother to her natural sons and daughters," he said.
If the foster mother is unable to breastfeed, her daughter, sister or sister-in law may breastfeed the child, as long as he is under 2, Dr Al Haddad said.

This was also touted by a Saudi imam as a method of allowing drivers to drive the women of a family around without breaking Sharia Law.
SO, some old Saudi bird is gonna let a 40-something old Bangladeshi suckle on the tit so she can go shopping with the girls???

You can breast feed without giving birth to the child. One of those: "Who Knew?" type of facts.

"Gradually, the woman increases the amount of stimulation until she is pumping for 10 minutes 8-10 times during each 24-hour period. (Pumping on a dry breast may pull some. Try lubricating the pump flange with a thin coat of cooking oil to make it more comfortable.)"
Sounds like something promoted by the breastfeeding nazis. Sure breastfeeding is good, but it's not the only way to be a good parent.

the father divorces the wife/mother of child before the child turns 2, and marries another woman who carries his child; or doesn't divorce, and still marries a second wife (in bigamous marriages both wives willingly breastfeed one time or more the other's child as it makes life simpler for them as the child gets older).
remember, even if children are still suckling infants, the father gets custody during a divorce. it's even sadder if the mother is a "foreigner" as after the divorce she loses her sponsor (ex husband) and has to leave the country.
