Meh..

Get together a bunch of aged establishment rawk journos and their journeymen schlock guitarist friends to vote on the best guitarists of all time. And what do you get?

Surprise, surprise, with a few utterly unavoidable exceptions, an unimaginative list of aged, establishment schlock rawk guitarists with a sprinkling of journeymen blues players.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is: no Ali Farka Toure??? FFS!!!!!

all guitar solos just amount to cracking one off on stage, if you can't dance to it then it ain't music

A classic here for all the metal heads. Brian Robertson and Gary Moore playing "Emerald" and "Still In Love With You" from a Phil Lynott tribute in 2005.

Robbo totally owned the lead on Emerald from the Live and Dangerous LP, this time Gazza gets the best of the fretboard shredding. Robbo gets the honors on Still....

RIP Gary Moore

And the original with Robbo and Scott Gorham (nice mincing, Scotty)

I'm sort of the same mind. People go on about how bloody great so and so Guitarist is due to their technical proficiency but I judge a guitarist by how melodious their riff sounds . So someone like Yngwe Malmstein would be a bloody good technical player but Frusciante or Slash comes out with the memorable melodious and delightfully unique riffs.
