What's horrible in the UK countryside?

Re: What's horrible in the UK countryside?
Oh dear, this has really got me worried. When I leave my shoebox to stretch my legs, I suppose I'd better take a big stick or something. You never know with all the cross breeding (and I'm an expert on cross breeding), what can happen if the dogs get bored with killing and maiming the sheep.
I don't want to stagger back to my retirement flat covered in blood with the seat ripped out of my pants.
It's so undignified.

Reconsider moving back just for those reasons alone - the countryside (in & out of town) can be a despicable place
Some remote Scottish island maybe

From reading many posts on BE as well as the on-line newspapers - the UK is not somewhere that older folks or anyone it seems should go out after dark for the fear of slipping, sliding & breaking a few body parts as a result of dog poop, garbage, thugs, being accosted or attacked by man or beast, thieves & what ever else. Sun up to sundown.

Oscar is a staffie cross, and he hates me! If the gate is open Oscar and I do a hundred yard dash so that I can get in my gate, or the seat really will be out of my pants!
I find the 'he's only little' infuriating!. If I don't leave soon, I will feed Oscar
to the croc's.
(Thank's for being gracious over my taking the mick!).

Good evening everyone
I have lived 11 years in England and I have recently settled in Luxembourg.
Something that I know for sure is that I utterly fell in love with England including its wonderful countryside
Now more than ever do I miss the quintessentially British charms and traditions which are so very unique !

I want to live in the country but that would mean our son would move out sooner!!! not a good thing I want him at home as long as possible
When we leave the US for the UK we will be leaving 1 gig a second service! I am not telling him it is not to be found in the UK as of yet unless you are in a few pockets in London to my understanding

I'm just about sold on reclaiming a bit of life in the English countryside but every now and again I get a bout of doubt.
Wellies stuck in thick mud, slipping over on ice, foxes killing chickens, shovelling snow off the drive... that sort of thing.
What are some of the other things that can mess up an escape to the country? Can rural dwelling expats confirm the pros outweigh the cons?

Yikes. That sounds awful if you're looking for peace and quiet. Will these be designated sites that potential home owners can find out about?

yes, because they do ask for objections, there was a plan to put one close to where we live, but there were so many objections that the plan, and all other plans for Bournemouth sites, wer dropped, now they have to try and find more.

I don't understand why they do this when often they own valuable properties in Ireland or Europe. But even if they don't, why do they believe it is acceptable to camp anywhere they like indefinitely, perhaps for years, instead of going to authorised caravan sites?
Are they testing and flouting authority, or believe that normal decencies and laws don't apply to them?

I don't know why British people go abroad when they often have jobs and homes in their own country. They often take jobs and homes that native people could have, and make themselves annoying in other ways. I just don't understand it.

It's a mystery.
