we bopught a De Longhi dehumidifier, not the cheapest but is excellent quality, and has a clothes dryer setting, a decent sized holding tank, but also can be set up for the tank to drain all the time via a tube. neve had a problem with it failing to cut out when the tank was full either.

I bought I tumble dryer when I moved back home. I like it for drying towels and sheets on those days that it is not practical to hang them outdoors. I was a bit concerned about not being able to vent it to the outside except via a window or boring a hole in thick stone walls. That is when I discovered condenser tumble dryers. I had never heard of them before and I am quite pleased with it. The moisture is collected in a tank in the dryer which can then be easily emptied.

I am planning to install a pulley on the ceiling of my utility room to free up some floor space. Growing up we had one in the kitchen. My clothes must have smelled of mince & tatties

I can't rave about condenser dryers enough! They cost more than a vented unit but sometimes you get lucky and find a good sale like we did (40 percent off). We had to have one in our old flat in Folkestone because there was no provision for venting (hanging it out the window wasn't practical either). Now we have a small outdoor clothesline which we love and hardly use the tumble dryer in the summer weather - sunshine is free That being said, if ever we had to replace the tumble dryer we'd get another condensing unit just to be without the hassle of vents.

Yes, they are very handy. Today, it is sunny and very windy in my neck of the woods. Perfect for drying outdoors, however, I think if I put the clothes horse out today it will end up in your neck of the woods

SNAP! I thought if I threw a few towels on the line today we might just catch a cheap flight for a holiday to Canada on them.

I've been house sitting at my brother's while they're in France. Washed the sheets and duvet cover, brought them in when they were dry and noticed weird red smears on the duvet cover. Realized it had been blowing into the raspberry bushes all morning.

This is a handy little gadget for drying your smalls. I got one at Ikea, but I do like Lakeland for all the other gadgets that they sell.

Those are handy, my grandmother used to have one attached to her washing line for all the smalls, saved them taking up a while line to themselves.

This is indeed a weird and deep thread. and also very educational, thank you.

Exactly, the socks and knickers were using up valuable space on my clother horse/airer, so when I saw the "smalls dryer" I snapped it up.
One of things I love about being back home is hanging my washing out, albeit on the clothes horse.

I am glad that this thread is addressing the important issues

This is really messing with my head. (Why isn't there an ocd emoticon?)
Ha ha ha!! I have been going totally NUTS about this issue. I absolutely need a dryer.

You can get similar things in all the £1 and 99p shops, they may not last as long, but with the Lakeland one costing £14.99, you would need to have bought 15 to spend the same amount.

I didn't buy it at Lakeland, but I couldn't find a link to the one I bought at Ikea. I used Lakeland for illustration purposes only
