How do you get your washing dry if you can't put it in the dryer? And it's raining? Or snowing?

This is really messing with my head. (Why isn't there an ocd emoticon?)

With great difficulty, it is one of my biggest bugbears since coming back here to live.

However I have a 2 metre by 2 metre so-called conservatory, so I put two clothes horses in there for things to dry over the course of a few days.

I really do miss the big garden hoist I had in Oz, here they are generally quite small and fragile.

I use an indoor airer too, but I would dearly like to dry more things outside. I do when conditions are good, but a windy dry day does not agree with my portable airer as it blows over. I will need to find an alternative for drying outside, but I don't have much space for a rotary airer. Any ideas on how I can secure my indoor airer when it is outdoors or what other options are there? Thanks for starting this "deep" thread

Have you got no where to string up a straight line?

What a helpful link. Thanks! That's my solution, because this was something concerning me........er, or should I bring my tumble dryer home??

I have never put clothes outside in 22years in Aus. I once threw on a T-shirt off the line, and got bitten by a bull ant that was wandering about in it. I had an anaphylactic reaction and nearly carked it!

You can get small tumble dryers for under £100 - chuck the house out the window, catflap or get a moisture trap / vent

Not at the moment. Small garden is like a jungle, so until I sort it out my drying area is limited.

I use my tumble dryer for sheets and towels, unless I can put them outside.
Everything else goes onto the clothes horse, but there are only two of us and can leave it up permanently as I have a small utility room.

Depending on what sort you have you might be able to weight the base down with ankle / wrist weights - cost about £5 in Argos / asda but have Velcro to fix them so might work

Handy to know! I'm keeping shipping to an absolute minimum, but could get this fella into the container as part of the quote, I think.
However, perhaps the small t/d....dosh permitting, or that heated doohickey!

Gosh these tips are so handy! I remember in my 5th floor flat in the UK years ago there was this heated wardroby thing set up with hanging rails at several levels. It took a bunch of washing!

Tumbly-or heated horse, is the way to go for me I reckon.
