I too think it's great they're having a good time, but I fail to see the point in ppl coming down to this forum to try and change ppl's minds, or put up a counter argument. We've made our minds up for whatever reason. Some ppl have never enjoyed it here, some have but now don't. I've had some good times here, but mostly not and have never understood the Godzone (Aussie or expat) psyche. I know how I feel about here, and there, and that's good enough for me. Sadly it's a different story for the wife. Can't say I know how this one is going to end, Anyway, I know we'll be here at least one more year, maybe two, so I've decided when we move next Saturday I will get FoxTel (I had it years ago ). Not sure if it will make things better or worse, as far as homesickness goes, we'll see. |

The poster didn't apply a reason to his random placement of the link, its lovely and all that, but what a strange thing to do. |

Why would you want to move back to the UK? A statement, not a question I do believe. They should have written Why would I want to move back to the UK? and then answered it themselves. |

Re: Moving back from Australia
Hello all, what a great read all these replies have been and what an insight, we currently live in Spain, just north of Alicante and do like it, although we are thinking about moving to Australia for my childrens future, we feel there may be more opportunites there for them. We love the UK but at this moment do not want to move back. But after reading all comments not too sure we want to go to Australia now!!! We travelled to Perth in Feb to visit friends who moved over there, liked it but fancy visiting the East coast, can anyone recommend the place???

Ican feel a song coming on :D My husband and son are upstairs singing Advance Australia Fair at the top of their voices. That poor poor child. I don't recall singing God Save the Queen, or what ever it's called. |

On the otherside you have the pro aussie its fantastic the best place in the world brigade thus you wont get a true reflection there either . Im afraid the only way to find out is to come here and experience it all for your self . All i can say from my point of view is the the cities suburbs remind me of poshed up council estates they are bland ,uninspiring ,lack architectural design, cheaply built, overpriced ,and full of keep up with jones type . The older areas where there seems to be a good mix of hardworking older migrants [ie italians ,greeks ,yugoslavs ]seem to have a more neighbourly feel and we still get little old ladies gossiping on the corner and walking to the shops and they often say hello if passing your house ,you will be hard pushed to find a good cultural mix in the likes of the burbs north of perth and the likes of rockingham as its little britain in those places . |
