A big percentage of Aussie blokes do tend to come accross as a bit one eyed and "everything is the best in Oz"
They often expect everyone to adopt their ways which can be a bit on the red neck side, hope when I return to the UK i'm not as rude to foreigners as Aussies are here.
But yes there are a few Aussies who keep both eyes open.

In the cities, I'm surprised you would cop any grief about being from overseas. My circle of friends loves talking to foreigners - we enjoy getting an external perspective on things (and some of my friends are born overseas anyway).
Perhaps it is a generational issue? (I'm on the edge of GenX/GenY).
The "everything is best in Australia" crew tend to have not been out of the country anyway. Hard to say something is the best when you have nothing to compare to.

Oooh that was nasty. My kids don't hate me either. They just don't like it because I wouldn't take my ex husband back or loan them money.
Now deadpan, you know how they have sperm banks? Well, have you thought of visiting a brain cell bank???
And you know what?? Until I can get back home to England, I've made it an occupational ambition to give as many Australian men the same hard time that I've had since I moved here because you know what? With the exclusion of a few, most of you deserve a dose of your own treatment.
Let's see those brain cells of yours gets some real exercise. Hey and no cheating, you can't ask a friend.
Bring it on cowboy.

Your ex husband treated you badly, so you feel the need to take it out on almost every Australian man you come across.
It seems to me that with an attitude like that, you got exactly the treatment that you deserved.

And that's something else you aussies lack. A sense of humour and you're rotten sports.
You're only idea of 'roots' is who you bonked the night before and yes, I am definately staying a while longer because I am having such a bloody good laugh that you are taking this all so seriously.

Touched a nerve? well yes, the other poster did pretty much just insult pretty much all Aussie males!
I found it interesting that there was an expose` on Panorama.
I didn't think Aussie blokes on the whole were that bad.
I get the impression you have just met a lot of bogans (same as your "chavs") ?
Still, it still seems a bit rough to tar us all with the same brush. My brother in law is english, and he's a complete wanker... but I don't use him as an example to say all English people are wankers.

I think you really are a little bit out of your depth with this one.
