Indeed they are which shouldn't be allowed. While looking around the lower end of the market in London last year I came across the stats that 75% of sales in that city was to overseas with a lot from the Far East.
So Londoners look set to have absentee landlords, some who have will never step foot in the country, while they find it hard if not near impossible to get into the market.
Doesn't seem quite right to me as nor does it that Chinese and other foreigners are permitted to store up the housing market here in Australia.
There will come a time here when the dollar declines a similar percentage of foreign purchases could well be the order of the day.

As others have pointed out we might not like selling to people from overseas but we still like to make the money from the sale.
With the people from the middle east or China buying isn't this the reason they are having unrest in their own countries because the money that is being made from oil isn't being used to benefit their own people?

I think the climate may not be great there as you get higher up.
I seem to be getting properties around Marlborough in my inbox (not Rightmove but better to view on Rightmove). This one came in today. I would be concerned about "cash buyers only". The only reason I can think of for this is if it is unmortgageable. What do you think?

Returning to topic
, sort of, I thought this map would be interesting to add into the mix:http://www.anglo-saxons.net/hwaet/?d...p&id=submap900
I suppose I am looking in Anglo Saxon territory
. Funnily enough my father had fair hair, blue eyes descended from Worcestershire and Essex people and my mother had jet black hair, sallow skin from Staffordshire folks. Apparently my Grandmother always said that there was Spanish in our blood. Not sure how they got to Staffordshire
. Might have to look at some more maps (a great love of mine... thought about being a cartographer at one point in my youth
).We could go back a little further:

Ok, last one
. I find this one particularly interesting:
http://www.anglo-saxons.net/hwaet/?d...e=map&id=map8c
(and here's the link so you can look at the others if you are interested:

You may think I am being frivolous... but I'm not
. History of place, or at least area, is not only important to me but influences where I want to live in the UK.

I am still really liking the Swanaga area. Not too big a town and possible to be within walking distance of the lovely sandy beach.
If I had the money
this propertty offers an incredible location but needs some work:
