Doesn't seem quite right to me as nor does it that Chinese and other foreigners are permitted to store up the housing market here in Australia.
There will come a time here when the dollar declines a similar percentage of foreign purchases could well be the order of the day.
Remember when you were younger and you played the game monopoly? Well isn't this similar when people have all this money and they buy whether they need these properties or not?

As others have pointed out we might not like selling to people from overseas but we still like to make the money from the sale.

With the people from the middle east or China buying isn't this the reason they are having unrest in their own countries because the money that is being made from oil isn't being used to benefit their own people?

Off the subject on my part but I saw on todays news that the Police Chief for Vancouver is of Chinese ancestry.

I seem to be getting properties around Marlborough in my inbox (not Rightmove but better to view on Rightmove). This one came in today. I would be concerned about "cash buyers only". The only reason I can think of for this is if it is unmortgageable. What do you think?

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-...-30341887.html
Just bought a property cash only in Cornwall. It was a "mundic" which means the concrete or cement was compromised by unscrupulous builders to save costs. their are degrees of mundic and as our house has been standing for 100 years we guessed it must be in the "safe degree" and it wont collapse in our lifetime !! My son ( a builder) was quite happy for us to buy it, he checked it out, said the only drawback was it probably wouldnt increase much in price, but guess what if you want to live in Cornwall, you best have a lot of money or buy a mundic. Hope this helps a bit

Yes, but born in Canada from his accent. Long Chinese history in Western Canada, hence Vancouver's Chinatown second only to San Francisco.

Returning to topic , sort of, I thought this map would be interesting to add into the mix:

I suppose I am looking in Anglo Saxon territory . Funnily enough my father had fair hair, blue eyes descended from Worcestershire and Essex people and my mother had jet black hair, sallow skin from Staffordshire folks. Apparently my Grandmother always said that there was Spanish in our blood. Not sure how they got to Staffordshire . Might have to look at some more maps (a great love of mine... thought about being a cartographer at one point in my youth ).

We could go back a little further:

Ok, last one . I find this one particularly interesting:

(and here's the link so you can look at the others if you are interested:

You may think I am being frivolous... but I'm not . History of place, or at least area, is not only important to me but influences where I want to live in the UK.

I am still really liking the Swanaga area. Not too big a town and possible to be within walking distance of the lovely sandy beach.

If I had the money this propertty offers an incredible location but needs some work:
