House contract is dead :-(

Well, closing should have been today. I was so happy. My little girls were booked to leave 4th December (staying in the same kennel as quarantine. Know the owners well). Had to cancel. My flight on 10th First Class a freebee from AA due to points saved also cancelled. Put the majority of my fine stuff in consignment store. House looks like "******* sh***) to quote Dame Judy Dench in Philomena :0) what next????? Will clear my stuff out and go forward. My ex can deal with the rest as he wants go stay here. I am so sad and confused.
Sorry to be a constant whiner. Gotta get home before 70 to get my drivers licence. Stressed.....To say the least.

Afraid not....STARLA was due a rabies shot 6th Dec. The reason why to get them out before that date. I am very into natural medicine and prefer to have blood titer tests performed on my dogs rather that fill them up with destructive vaccines in order to make money for vets. Most of my dogs who have had a final vaccination at age 3.....still have strong titers five years later.
Anyway yesterday she had her second rabies shot of her little life. Dosed her with pediatric Benadryl beforehand and so no adverse reaction :-).
So we are free to rebook. Have to go through Northern Ireland Dept Agriculture again with new info to send to USDA VET in Austin.
If it wasn't the issue over my driver license application before my 70th birthday in January, I wouldn't be in such a panic.
I so appreciate everyone's support xxx

So sorry to hear about your sale falling through. Since it happened on the day of closing, don't you have some leverage over the buyer since they pulled out at such a late stage. Keeping the deposit or something?

I thought that once the sale contract was signed and the structural inspectors report was OK'd that buyers were not able to just pull out by whim.

Well yes....$3000....We have to play the nice game...If we ask for more in escrow it is a very delicate situation. Don't want to piss them off entirely......they have accepted taking care of inspection issues and not asked for extras other than the fridge. This is not a whim...they have top notch credit but their CPA DID NOT give correct paperwork to IRS from a limited partnership to which they belong. Their families from India have already flown over to see the house.
Desperate days for me camping out. :-(

Don't beat yourself up. Just doing what you are planning on doing right now takes a lot of courage, needs a lot of strength and a lot of determination. You could just bury your head in the sand, but you are not:thumbup:

So I would say that a cool looking lady with a plan for a complete change in life at age 69 must have some self esteem even if she doesn't realise it;)

Naughty. You are beautiful, stop beating yourself up and be kind.
I hated the camping out part of selling the house, hope the CPA pulls the act together quickly and it's all on again soon.

Thanking everyone for your such kind words. Contract back on again (we hope). Still waiting for confirmation. I need advice please......if we do close and as I have become unsure of resident v visitor........seems to me that visitor would be a good start?

Sorry if unclear....I meant enter UK on USA passport because time is very short and I most likely have to come back to sell car, get IRS sorted, Medicare, rehire movers, storage and generally settle things. Plus I'm truly getting cold feet over the whole thing knowing I can afford to purchase a house here but only rental there. Belfast is also experiencing some of things that made us move away in the first place.

I think that it's natural to get cold feet just before a big move. It's a big decision to make. :)

Just remember that there are reasons why you decided to move back home. Keep them in mind. :D

Yep. pretty natural feeling, we had that too.
We bought return tickets for a way off return date, maybe do that, then go back and sell the stuff at that later date. We called and cancelled the return part and got a refund on some of the taxes.

OMG......we closed on our house at 6 pm......NOW WHAT TO DO??????
United just called with a weather warning. I've used 100,000 points to fly one way to LHR. I will go as visitor for now......take health insurance......sad and happy all at once.....for sure I have to come back to sell my car etc or decide where to stay...this is more a holiday than permanent for now......no time to think...it all happened too fast to get properly sorted.

It does seem to happen so fast.
We prepared for months (years even) then the house sold in a day, it was up in the air for ages and then the last two weeks before closing it was all on and done and we had to get going. All our stuff shipped and tickets bought all in three weeks. Quite traumatic really.

Are you taking the dogs? Sorry, have only ben keeping up in bits ... but I thought you were, and a "holiday" to the UK doesn't sound like a trip with dogs ($$$).

If you are taking your dogs and have sold your house, and only going back to sell things, wouldn't it be to your advantage to call this "permanent ... for now", so to speak? You wouldn't need health insurance, for one thing.

There's plenty of BE-ers who return not really sure if it is permanent (or pretty sure it's permanent, except it ends up not being permanent!).

Just a thought. Maybe you want to call it a holiday because you feel that gives you options I'm not thinking of. Is that it?

Anyway, HUGE congratulations on the house. I know how that feels, probably the biggest hurdle of all of them.

Thank you everyone.....I didn't know whether to laugh or cry as my dogs are due to leave five hours from right now.
The reason to go as a visitor is so as not to complicate any ideas of possible return re IRS etc.
I'm happy to leave and give it a try as my kids are encouraging me to do though living in my brother's house will not give me the entire flavor of being back. I've sort of lost my nerve thinking the devil I know is better than the devil I don't know......most particularly regarding Medicare if one can afford the extras plus pick one's own specialists and no waiting time for referrals nor unexpected surgeries. Belfast has a rotten reputation for A&E waiting times etc.,
Just scared of the entire life move.....
