London Spy on BBC is awfully good.

London Spy is super. Also very much like River. I saw The Coroner last night. Thought it was rather weak. May try 1 more episode. Also like Cuffs and Arne Dahl.

Just catching up with this now. The first episode was OK but the second really drew me in. Will watch third and fourth tomorrow.

Can anyone recommend or not recommend UK TV programs shown over the Christmas period please?

So far I have recorded but not watched:

Downton Abbey
Call The Midwife
Luther
Prey
And Then There Were None
Not Another Happy Ending
And of course all Corrie episodes

Any I have missed or shouldn't bother watching?

Of your list I only watched Luther and And Then There Were None. I moderately enjoyed both, but neither was outstanding, although Aidan Turner strips to nothing but a towel in the latter.

Star of Luther, Idris Elba, has been awarded an OBE in the New Year's honours list.

I wish they'd cast him as Bond.

If you like musicals there was a live recording of Immelda Staunton in Gypsy from the Savoy Theatre in London. It was on BBC4 on the 27th. She was really amazing in it and has had standing ovations.

I really don't see Idris Elba as Bond. Denzil Washington when younger would have been good enough.

As for men in towels, plenty of women watch Homeland to see Rupert Friend in the shower. He'd make a decent Bond I reckon.

An Ozzie? Over my dead body will a non Britisher be cast as Bond! (We'll know for sure that the CIA have taken over MI-5 and MI-6 if that happens, and that Harry lost the fight)
