Dunroving I agree with you that they seem to be putting a lot of dark mysteries on. I dont mind the murders but I dont like it when the include children that always makes me uneasy....I nice update Jane Austen would be great......
Anything that the Americans do to remake a British series never works its always second rate.......

I found out last week that there was an attempted remake of Red Dwarf.

You might lose sanity if you saw it.
It's on youtube.
There was a pilot which was 'our' first episode remade. All characters played by different actors, except Kryten who was still good. But he made the others look worse than they were. Probably.
It didn't get anywhere and they made another sort of pilot which was more like a recap/previously on but there were a couple of differences, not least of which was the cat was female.

OH was out playing music last night so I decided to try both Prey and Happy Valley - he is particular about what he watches, so was vetting them for him. Had to stop Happy Valley half way through as I knew he would appreciate it. So we will start that over. Prey I though was meh. Not sure I will continue with it. DD, the nursing student, is here on college break, so I introduced her to the first two episodes of The Crimson Fields. Will watch the next two tonight after dinner. I must say I don't know what I would do without my British TV!

I only got about 10 minutes into Prey before I realized it was the Fugitive allover again. Couldn't get into it after that. I read a review to see what they had to say about it; apart from confirming that it was basically a remake of the Fugitive scenario, they described it as "an unabated misery fest" so I'll definitely give it a miss.

[I just looked it up on Wikipedia and it says "The Fugitive .... aired on ABC from 1963 to 1967. The Fugitive aired for four seasons, and a total of 120 x 51-minute episodes were produced" - I am pretty sure I watched every single one of them!

I realized immediately from title and description based on the old Fugitive series with David Janssen. Still remember when he died which was way too young...

Re: Broadchurch and Other UK TV Programs
I've just finished watching "Without You", a 3-part thriller on ITV Iplayer. Must admit had to stop after 1 1/2 episodes because I was getting a bit scared but watched the remaining 1 1/2 episodes this evening. It really wasn't as dark as I thought it was going to be and thought it was excellent. I was gripped from the moment I started watching.

Saw that last time it was on. Very enjoyable. There is something else along those lines that we have on the list: One Man and His Campervan. Part 1 starts off in Devon.
Watched Under Milk Wood last night. It was a veritable who's who of Welsh actors and entertainers. We liked it very much.
Also saw part 2 of Happy Valley. Very "Fargoesque." Will definitely see it through to the end.
The Crimson Field - meh. They seem to throw in various characters here and there so casually that you don't have much of a chance to get to know them or care about them much. Even the ones that have been around for a while are easily forgettable. The exception would be one of the volunteer nurses, played by Oona Chaplin, who has a hidden past that she has come to France to escape from. The more we get a little taste of what she left behind, the more we want to know. The rest, I couldn't give a toss about, quite frankly - especially the matron, who always looks like she has a stick up her bum
