hello...so since we are moving back to the uk we have a bit of freedom choosing the place.
we thought of liverpool/manchester....we are also considering southampton....living near a port would be better as we work in shipping industry but can be flexible.
what would be the best place to live in currently? considering family life, cultural diversity, cost of rent, and brexit?.....
thanks!!!

There is no best place to live.... it all depends on where you can get a job, how much you can afford for accommodation, utilities, food etc, where there are good schools if you need them, transport etc
Personally I would love to live in the Cotswolds, but housing is very expensive and one has to have a car to get anywhere. Similarly Guildford is a very attractive Surrey town, but homes are expensive as are most areas in the South East
You can find out what rentals cost by Googling 'rentals' on the website Rightmove.
Do you have a job to go to - from your earlier posts it would appear not?

no job yet...we have enough savings to start with and school the kids, fix everything....apart from london which is too expensive and too big....we are quite free depending on good jobs we can find and good housing

Then Southampton or Portsmouth or Dover or Tilbury or Felixstowe etc all might work - closer than Newcastle.

Try Bute where you can get a classical villa designed by Alexander "Greek" Thomson for £335,000. I would move in myself but I have problems with the servants

A small town or village in Hampshire are worth considering. Portsmouth and Southampton are nearby which are certainly convenient for the shipping industry.

Hi, we are in a similar position to you, in that we’re not tied to one area, have no plans to live near family and want to live somewhere nice. Did you decide on somewhere? I was wondering about York/Harrogate/Leeds or Newcastle type areas.
