We have moved from Lincoln and realised everthing thing we was hoping to find we already had. We dont find the pace of life any more laid back here peoples attitudes here are different and not that friendly. When do you plan on going back to York we never had the chance to visit it but went to Scarborough a couple of times and loved it there.

Hope it all works out for you :)

Shame that you had to go all the way to Oz to find out that the grass is not greener...it just get more sun ;)

I understand how you feel. We hit the Napean hwy and ran for the 'Hills'..

Now 3 years later we have settled into the life that we always dreamed off but we are still looking at heading home! I think that what we have here can be acheived in the UK with the added benifit of having family around. The stories about the attitudes of the teenagers in the UK does scare me though :scared:

You should wait till the winter is over and then things really start to pick up in Mornington. Come the summer it really is a lovely place. There should be some meets there in the spring. It would be a good idea to contact a few others that live there too. It is a fairly popular expat area.

A mate of mine was born & brought up in Mornington - he couldnt wait to get away & move into the city. He said the sound of the duelling banjos eventually got to him.

He also said the worst thing about living in non urban Australia was the people you have to share it with.

What are you on about? There are loads of posts along those lines in the Oz forum - and on the whole, the only person dishing out negative vibes in response, is you. You chip in nearly every time, moaning that people with 'rose-tinted' specs on will respond negatively, when in fact in 99% of cases it's the exact opposite.

Really, like yesterday eh, a rare critical post on oz appeared, when I suggested someone posting such stuff could be a real person and should not be getting called a troll, or told to bog off home to the UK, or people calling for another forum for 'those' posts.

I appeared to be the only person who even considered the person posting might just be unhappy. Your part: 'proving' it was a troll then being called wrong by a mod who had checked.

I wont hold my breath for your apology neither should the 2 genuine posters who got heckled yesterday

It shouldn't!! :D

If you move onto a council estate then, yes, you may meet up with some low-lifes ... adults as well as kids, but you may also meet some really great people, too.

I think the majority of teenagers over here are getting a lot of bad publicity. Most of them are just kids .. no better or no worse than most of us were at their age.

A rare critical post? WTF? Is there some sort of tally sheet you keep, where a post only deserves a response from you if they're slagging off Australia? There are lots of critical posts in the Oz forums, just as there are plenty of upbeat ones - and you know what - that's life - good and bad, up and down - not constantly ****ing shite as you'd have everyone believe.

And as to that post you refer to - show me again how the mod proved it wasn't someone trolling? Different IP addresses - woooo - must be two different people then. Case closed. Not. But really - if those two posters are genuine, then why the hell did they just post the once? Judging from their attitudes I find it seriously hard to believe that they care what anyone on BE thinks, so it's highly unlikely they got 'scared' off. No, they make one post and the disappear forever. In your intense delight at seeing such an anti-oz post you overlook the simple fact that someone's playing you like a violin.

The only violins I expected to see now your in OZ were yours, with you running down the beach, like a longbeach 25 ad, wind blowing in your hair full of happiness and charm. Alas you seem more miserable and argumentative than ever  Oz getting you down you could always ping pong :D Or already booked the ticket your on this forum a lot.

This is what I have always thought. My sister has teenagers on a council estate and they are fantastic kids. I guess because she has brought them up teaching them respect and right and wrong.

Maybe some people are too quick to blame the country for their mistakes or poor parenting judgements.

And before some people jump onto me.. I understand that it is not always the parents fault and some kids just find trouble where ever they live. It is just their personalities.

Thats exactly my view...people are so quick to blame other people, the country they live in or the government...funny enough, so many people are surprised that living in a different country dont really change that much in there lifes....
