Default Any Scots around Limerick/Munster?

I've been living in Limerick for about a year now and homesickness is really kicking in now. Was hoping to identify a few other Scottish ex-pats to bounce experiences off to check I'm not going insane!

I'm a 31 year old female from Edinburgh. I came here partly to satisfy an "itch" I had for Ireland and partly because I met a guy from Limerick. I'm trying reconcile the differences in culture being here and home.

How are you finding the difference in culture? Do you think this is "nice for a few years" location or a "here for life" location?

Yes, I heard all the "Stab City" chat before I came here but it seems from my experience living here that the violence is isolated to gang feuds in selected areas of the city.Maybe it was rougher years ago and its diminished of late. I've never seen any violent incidents. I thinks it probably on par with rough areas in Glasgow or the north side of Dublin. Maybe there is a reporting bias from the Dublin based media here, as there seems to be more murders etc there but Limerick get more of the rap?!

Like any other city, Limerick has it s rough bits and its good bits.Limerick has improved vastly over the years. There are a lot more clubs and pubs and the people are as friendly as ever.Hope you find some friends to hang out with.x Irishbloo
