i also have tickets within that time frame (and again 6 weeks later)
and have no intention of changing anything. I also traveled to Europe
very shortly after 9/11. Living in a major city, I can see 747's and
777's departing towards Europe every 15 minutes and returning without
incident. This has helped give me the perspective to see the chances
of catastrophy to be a numbers game with extraordinary odds safely in
your favor; and this is from only one city out of hundreds
(thousands?) with arriving and departing flights to major cities in
Europe. I encourage you to go and not worry about it. There's more
people than ever looking after your safety.

If my work had allowed (I'm employed by a tax accountant) I'd be packing
for a trip to Belgium right now (for the world premiere of a new opera
in Brussels at La Monnaie, next week). Believe me, if there'd been any
way to take the time off and still have a job to return to, no potential
war would have kept me away!

Life is too short to postpone things you really WANT to do, "just in
case" something bad MAY happen! (It just as well may NOT, and you'll
have denied yourself a pleasant experience for no reason.)

On Sat, 01 Mar 2003 18:05:20 GMT, in rec.travel.europe, "rg"
arranged some electrons, so they looked like this :
... We had plans to travel to Germany. We cancelled them. Not because of a
... terroist, but for political reasons. We do not support with our dollars
... those countries that oppose the US when we agree with what the US is doing
... and what the UN ought to be doing.
The Germans will be very happy to know it, I'm sure.

Due to a lack of interest, tomorrow has been cancelled.

We feel we are good Americans, but we strongly oppose the war. We plan
to go ahead with the vacation we scheduled--which includes both France
and Germany. We find both the countries and people beautiful.
We hope and pray our dollars support peace, not war. Perhaps the
Germans and French know first hand something about war that you do not
know.

Do you own cars? Your government supports a corrupt Saudi Arabia that
tortures confessions from people. Next time you fill up, remember there's a
little bit of torture in every tankful.
Perhaps you should look a little closer to home before you make moral
decisions on what you buy.

The money also goes to the madrassahs where fundamentalism is grown. It's a
pretty direct path from the Texaco station back around the world to the WTC.

Some people do have strange motivations. Why let politics rule your life?
It should be the least important influence on personal decisions.
