Same for me. But they didn't just cancel the card or block it as others
have said, they just made me explain to them in person so they
understood.

A couple of years ago there was a huge problem with Mastercard in the
US. Someone got hold of a list and sold it. They maxed out my MC, like
you they did it in Australia. And the bank cancelled the card and
credited me. They have refused to issue MC ever since as they haven't
demonstrated that they fixed the security problem.

I haven't had a problem with my bank, but several vendors on the
Internet refused to accept my CC when the IP address showed I was in
Indonesia.

When I'm going on a long trip or plan to make a major purchase, I phone the
credit card company (ies) to tell them what my plans are to insure
everything goes without a hitch. That was suggested by one of my credit
card companies in the literature they send periocically. KM

They do it for your protection.

Call them and let them know where you will be travelling and you won't
have any problems!
