Doesn't make much difference- it's more just for fun to try and get to
another line. For example, one such trip.

Train to Romiley walk along the Peak Forest Canal to New Mills, and get
the train back from New Mills Newtown (Buxton line)

Here in Manchester, not too bad- a bit dirty in parts.

No- there's a wide varietyin the area- canals by their nature will
usually go through a city at some point and other parts are rural.

I don't know how much of a problem that is here, but they're not as
clean as they could be. This picture shows it in OK condition given the
crowds... one of the few parts of it in the city where you can't walk
alongside.

Actually, I'm not, but I like exploring differen rail routes when
possible. Another one that I've nearly done but would like to do all the
way next time is to walk from Clitheroe train station to Nelson or Colne
train station via Pendle Hill.

Even small pieces of concrete dropped on cars is a much bigger problem.
Wasn't it in a car park in Reading that somebody impaled & killed somebody by
dropping a scaffolding pole on him.

People who own narrow boats on u.r.w say it isn't, when asked, but discuss it
when they think nobody is looking.

I've been shot at whilst boating with an air gun in Cheshire and with a rifle
in Florida.

bloody hell, what happened to the towpath? And so many people! Is that
the Manchester gay scene? You certainly get a choice. If its the
straight scene an ugly women could have a ball :-)

Not sure, but it's only really the part in the picture where it's
missing, and a bit up until after the lock in the distance.

The picture is from gay pride a few years ago, but Canal Street gets
very busy, especially on nice-weather weekends.

No- I'm not really that fussed about locos and their numbers, etc. From
a passenger point of view, I'm interested in different models I suppose.

bit of a pain for the lock, you cant drop off the galley slaves to
prepare it till the last minute

isn't everybody supposed to dress up for that? They could pass for
football supporters.

No- normal dress mostly.

Actually, the village gets pretty busy when there are big matches in
town- last year, I remember seeing tons of Celtic supporters there when
their team was playing.
