Even City Bird (OK not any more) or Martinair have better seats in
Business than standard airline economy and by more than a little.

only a few airlines offer 6-abreast BC in 777s. Most of them are 9.

FWIW, this is the typical configuration

Aircraft FC BC EC Charter
767 5 6 7 8
777 6 7 9-10 10
747 4-6 7 10-11
DC-10/MD-11 6 7 9
A300/10/30/40 6 6 8

I've never heard of 3 5 3. Most 747s are 3 4 3, and MD11s and 777s
either 2 5 2 or 3 3 3. On Airbus wide-bodies 2 4 2, on 767s 2 3 2.

Of course, you are right, on UA it's 2-3-2. Memory playing tricks :-(...

Yes, I'd just about reached that conclusion, too. Certainly
the BA flights to and from London, when I went to Brussels
in June, were MUCH too narrow in the shoulder area for such
a long trip! (Oddly enough, the BA airbus flights between
LHR and BRU had considerably more comfortable seating.)

You're right, I was. On overseas flights I'm usually too
concerned with getting my one small carry-on into an
overhead bin (before all the bin hogs monopolize them), to
really look at the area I'm passing through. (And the
aisles are still plenty narrow, when you're carrying a
duffel bag, a purse and a coat!)

Add 2-4-3 to your list of MD11's (KLM)

On Airbus wide-bodies 2 4 2, on 767s 2 3 2.

Probably because some airlines, such as CO, REVERSE what they call
BC and F from your classification below, i.e., BC is ALWAYS more
spaceous than FC on CO.

For CO, 777 definitely has the 2-2-2 configuration.
CO also has 757 BC, but I am not sure of the exact configuration
of seats, other than it's more spaceous than those 757 with FC
FC seats and FC designation.

FC AA 777 in the new Flagship Suite configuration is 1-2-1. That's a nice ride.

That's for the Atlantic fleet. Pacific fleet is 6 abreast. AA is
supposed to be moving toward a single-777 configuration but no one is
sure whether flagship suites will stay or not.

FWIW, the Club World beds on BA are 8 abreast in both 747s and 777s.
That's the highest BC density, widthwise, in a long time.
