Sorrento advice
I'm travelling to Sorrento in June/July with my children. I am staying for
a week and want to make the most of my time there. What are the must see
sites that I should make every effort to go to and what is not worth the
time. I have been looking also for a good guide book for the area available
in the UK, any idea which one is worth the money. Thank you all in advance.

Capri
old Caserta (no.of Napoli)
Pozzuoli
Naples

Gary, this forum allows you to search on keywords. type "Sorrento" into the search box (top right of the rec.travel.europe index page) and you'll come across a lot of postings recently made on Sorrento.

one of the best things to do is hiking in the hils behind sorrento and the
other towns in the area.

As you can see from Franko's reply, Sorrento is a well-located for making
excursions. To his list, I'd add only Paestum, a bit far but worth it if
you're interested in well-preserved Greek temples.

For historical sites and museums the "Blue Guide Southern Italy" is very
good.
