Request for driving directions in southern England
Please recommend the most scenic route, staying off the motorways, from
Stow-on-the-Wold to Southampton. Please also estimate the driving time.
Please give me the same sort of recommendation for route and driving time
between Southampton and Wisley Gardens. Many thanks.

About 3 hours for this:
A424 Burford
A361 Lechlade and Highworth
B4000 Shrivenham and Lambourn
B4001 Hungerford
A338 Tidworth (Salisbury direction)
cross A303 S of Tidworth then
B3084 The Wallops and Romsey
several ways to Southampton from there depending on where you are
going
Highworth - Shrivenham - Lambourn - Hungerford - Tidworth is a scenic
diversion - there's a more direct route from Highworth to Tidworth via
the Swindon by-pass and Marlborough if you need it.

From Winchester to Wisley is a pleasant, non-motorway drive, taking
the A31 from Winchester to just south of Guildford, then the A3 to
Wisley, where the gardens are right alongside the A3. The section of
the A31 closest to Guildford is the Hog's Back road which follows a
natural ridge.
It's probably easiest to take the M3 the 12 miles or so from
Southampton to Winchester, though there are other parallel roads if
your aversion to motorways is very strong.
Assuming you don't hit heavy traffic, you should be able to do
Southampton-Wisley in around 1.5 hours
