Default Queen Mary 2 to Dock in Brooklyn

I am tempted to take the QM2 back from the US to Europe at sometime.
The choices of US docking are the NY area or Fort Lauderdale, I think.

In the 60s and early 70s we took the France back and forth from NY
to France, something like 16 passages. We took the QE2 once but did not
like it much and since we have been mostly taking sail boats. In
fact we have rented one the the week in the BVI and will leave in
a week.

Are there any reporst out there by those who have taken the QM2.

Earl

Queen Mary 2 to Dock in Brooklyn

Sat Apr 16,10:27 AM ET

NEW YORK - Four luxurious passenger ships, including the Queen Mary 2 and
the Queen Elizabeth 2, will abandon Manhattan's Hudson River piers and begin
docking in Brooklyn next year.

Carnival Corp. will move the berths of the four ships to a huge pier the
city is redeveloping in the Red Hook section, city and company officials
said.

The city hopes the shift will create thousands of jobs, spur retail and
tourist-industry development and breathe new life into what was once a bleak
warehouse district, and bring 250,000 more passengers to the city each year
on top of the current 900,000.

The new pier will accommodate the 1,132-foot Queen Mary 2 ‹ the world's
largest passenger ship ‹ plus the 963-foot Queen Elizabeth 2, the Star
Princess and the Crown Princess, which makes its debut next year. At the old
West Side Passenger Ship Terminal in Manhattan, the stern of the Queen Mary
2 stretches 132 feet beyond the pier into the Hudson River.

We live in Europe, partly on my French government pension.

1) their dog kennel service was definitely inferior to that on
the France.

2) the food was not great, certainly not up to the standards
of the SS France! Even our dog ate better on the France.

Our first crossing (November of 1965) cost about $250 each,
not counting the dog. So one did not have to be rich.
We came over on my National Institutes of Health postdoctoral
fellowship. So some American nativists will be happy to
know the American taxpayers paid for our year's "vacation" in la Belle
France.* :-)

I was still 4-F then and they still did not want me in Vietnam!

France was better in any case. 1966 while we were here DeGaulle
kicked the Americans out of France. Except us.

Must be good then, given the accuracy of your other posts.

Started to be a parasite at an early age huh?

Sure we did. You would have made a good big fat target. Too cowardly
to show though.

Now how did he miss your big fat 4F ass? Actually, did the rest of us
a big favor not having to put up with your stupid insufferable ass any
longer.

I wouldn't park my boat in Red Hook. I'd come back the next day to find it up
on milk crates and all the propellors gone.
