Hi folks, yes i'm back, lol..Actually i'm back and well rested and
have a few things to say to the morons who insist Americans are being
treated bad in Europe. I spend 5 days in Paris and couldn't of had a
better time. We stayed right on the Rue De Cler, in the heart of the
open air markets. Each morning we had breakfast at an outside cafe
full of Parisians. They began to look for us after the 2nd day so we
could chat with them. We were treated with complete respect and
dignity. I actually began to look forward to speaking with them each
day, and NO i do not speak French. Most Parisians know some English
and what you don't know, pointing works great, lol..In fact i had
almost an awful experience there. To make a long story short, i left
my bag i carried on my waist in the back of a taxi. Didn't realize it
till i got to hotel. I was totally freaking out. Credit cards, etc.
in there. It was a private owned cab, so no way of checking on a cab
company. My friend walked back outside to the street as i was inside
with hotel clerk trying to figure out what to do. He basically told
me, nothing we can do. As i walked back outside, my friend is at the
end of the street talking to 2 cab drivers. Lo and behold one was the
cab we had taken. He came back as soon as he realized i left the bag
behind. He said he always checks after dropping off a fare. There was
over $100 Euro's in there also. Nothing was touched. The man
returned it as he found it. I gave him a nice reward for returning it
and was able to go on with my vacation, Thank you to the "NASTY"
Parisians who hate Americans. God Bless this man for his honesty.
Went to a little town called Berenuil, where my Uncle was buried from
WW11. Here we had to take a train from Paris to Saintes and then a
cab to the cemetery. Cab driver stayed with us, walked the cemetery
with us and delivered us safely back to the train station. Did not
charge us for the time he waited. Damn, "NASTY" French...
After arriving back at train station we had 2 hours to kill, so we
went to a little pub there in town. The pub owner spoke a little
English, as he took our order the place got dead quite. OHOH, i
thought..Suddenly all the patrons started moving their tables over to
us and sat down and bought us a beer. Your Americans? Yes, we
are..Wondering why we were in this tiny village it started a
conversation long enough to almost cause us to miss our train. Those
"NASTY" French, shame on them..Getting back to the train station we
ended up on the wrong platform and had to run to catch our train. On
the way we stopped to ask a man and his wife where the right platform
was. He spoke English very well, told us to follow him , he was
catching same train. Turns out he was from Paris and kept an eye on
us all the way to make sure we didn't get lost again, since we had to
change trains. Also turns out he worked one of the tourist agencys
there. We booked a tour with him the next day and he took us to
places that are not even on his tour schedule, what a nice man he was.
Damn "NASTY" French. So to all the anti French bullshit in here,
that is just what it is Bullshit. Don't let anyone stop any of you
from vacationing in France. We had a great time and would do it again
in a heartbeat.
In Germany, it was easy for us, my mother was German and all my
relatives on my mothers side are there. We went to many places and
cities and in all of them we were treated with respect after finding
out we were Americans.
We arrived in London the morning the war broke out. Beleive it or not
we had more problems there , then anyplace else. Not with the English
people, but with all the protestors all over London. The tour buses
could not get through downtown London, and we sat on a tour bus
watching the show like a tennis match. One side of the street was
pro war the other side was anti war. Great entertainment in a way,
but i would of rather finished the tour of London.
So folks go to Europe, if you treat people the way you want to be
treated , you will have no problems there at all. I will be going
back this time next year, and taking my 8 year old grandson with me.
That is how safe i felt there, that i will take a child back with me
next year. So to all the bullshitters in here about how bad Europe is
to Americans, "STUFF IT", and take your bullshit elsewhere...

Well, at least you saw something different! Was it good natured or did
it get ugly?

It was different allright, actually it kind of reminded me of the
protests that went on during Nam. That in itself left a sour taste in
my mouth. It was mainly shouting and calling names back and forth,
but we heard it got nastier as the day and evening wore on. The
thought that entered my mind was don't these young people have
anything better to do? Since most were in their 20's and 30's by the
looks of it. Like a JOB...Funniest part was this was in front of the
British Parliament and Blair was not even in town. But then everyone
has a right to their opinion in a free country and protestors are part
of that freedom , i guess.

Nope , not a troll, i've posted here many times. Just an American
that had a great time in Europe and wanted to share that. And to let
Americans know that most of the posts in here anti Europe are crap.
As i said earlier, your treated as you treat others. You give respect
you earn respect. Cheers, Chris
