Default Prague: Hotel location

Hi,
My husband and I are going to Prague in late August. After doing a
lot of homework about my destinations, finally it's time to think
about "where to live and how much we want to spend on that".
After visiting couple online hotel booking services, I think I better
ask for some advices before I act.

1. I visited www.marys.cz and www.hotelsprague.net. Anyone have
experience with them? Are they reliable?

2. Other than Old Town, I also saw some good deal around Lesser Town,
New Town, and around National Theater area. Are those locations
convenient for tourist? I wish to be able to reach most of the city
center attractions within walking distance. (Don't have to be 3
minutes walking distance, though. )

3. I saw some nice "apartment" with good price around National
Theater area. How's that area? Safe to walk back at night around,
say, 10:00 PM? Anything to consider compared with some normal
"hotel"?

I would appreciate any tip and experience you could share with me.
Thanks in advance!

Mary's Travel Service has been used by several satisfied customers here on
rte IIRC. Don't know about the other (but from their website they look
fairly reliable).

All the locations you mention are centrally located. The main tourist area
of Prague is quite compact. You can quite easily walk wherever you want to
go. There are plenty of trams, and of course, the very effecient Metro. Be
wary of taxis ;-)

The National Theatre area is quite safe. An apartment might be a good bet
for you if you wish to to go the self - catering route (there are plenty of
food shops, even Tesco and Julius Meinl, etc. supermarkets and the like
scattered around....). It might be cheaper, too, than a hotel.

BTW, don't miss the Cafe Slavia, which is on the embankment near the
National Theatre!

All of these areas ARE the center attractions. Prague expands all around
for another dozens of miles, where most of the locals live.

Prague is safe anyway and at say 10:00 PM all the atractions will be
open with millions of tourists looking for them. And the difference
between a hotel and an apartment is the same as anywhere else...

Hi,
Thank you for your advices and suggestions. Some people also email me
directly. I appreciate them as well!
I found a nice deal over the internet, which is in edge of Lesser
town. It is close to the bridge next to the Charles bridge on the
north.

Thank you all very much!

My wife and i stayed in a place that fits that description. It was about a
block from the Opera House. It was very ugly. But it was clean comfortable
and great location.
It was the Pension Brezina. They have another location too.
