Default Prague, airport to hotel.

We'll be arriving Prague from Frankfurt at 1:30 pm. We are booked at the
Dorint Don Giovanni. What is the best option to go from airport to hotel?
We'll have luggage, thus probably not a good idea to wrestle with public
transportation, unless there is some kind of convenient train. What would
the cost of a taxi be? Is there any larger passenger vans or shuttle buses
available (there will be 10 of us)?

Another question, is it convenient to get cash from a bank machine at the
airport?

Any potential saftey concerns at Prague airport?

TIA

I was recently in Prague and used Prague Airport Shuttle
(www.prague-airport-shuttle.com) to get to and from the airport. It
was $46 USD round/trip and they met me right outside Customs in the
Arrivals Hall. It might not be a big deal from Frankfurt but coming
from the U.S. it is really nice to see someone holding a sign with
your name on it when you arrive! I told them I'd definitely recommend
them to anyone who happened to ask. :-) The two drivers I had spoke
fluent English (and I'd guess probably Czech & German too).

No train to Prague airport. There's a bus that connects to several
Metro stations though.

The Prague Airport Shuttle people can surely handle this, it was a
large van they used for my trips to/from the airport (and I was the
only rider!)

Yes, ATMs right in Arrivals hall. There's even a currency exchange
booth in the baggage claim area that MIGHT have had an ATM which you
could use while waiting for your suitcases, but I didn't happen to
notice.

    >Any potential saftey concerns at Prague airport?

No... it's very small, easy to get around. Plenty of staff/police.
Enjoy Prague, it's a beautiful city. But as a safety pointer watch for
pickpockets on the Charles Bridge and the Malostranske Namesti and
Staromeske Namesti though.

Have you asked your Hotel to make arrangements for you? Last time we were
in Praque we stayed at a small hotel. We asked the best way to get to the
Airport and they made reservations on a shuttle for us. I remember the
price as being in the $7.00 range for my wife and I.
In general Taxi's are quite inexpensive in central Europe. For 10 it may
not be the best way. But When Joan and I arrive in a new City we almost
always take a taxi to the hotel. When I was a less experienced traveler and
tended to be warry of any unneccessary expense I would take public
transport. It wasn't worth the savings.

ATM's are ubiquitous in Praque. I suggest shopping around for a Credit Card
that does not charge for curency conversion. My credit Union has a Gold
Visa Card that does not.

Thanks. I have an MBNA card that charges a percentage (1%) for foreign
currency transactions. That's the lowest I can find. My bank card charges
a one time fee per transaction.

The best way to get to Prague Centrum from the airport is to take a minibus
(info at the airport, company named CEDAZ, the price is 360,- Kc for 1 to 4
persons). It is cheaper than a taxi and more comfortable than the public
transportation.
But I still think you should ask your Hotel

I second all of the above opinions. Having someone with a sign with your
name on it at the airport is a very nice thing. No hassles!
