Default Please comment my Central Europe trip, thanks

Hi, I have made my plan to Central Europe and please comment.

Day 1-2 Vienna
Day 3 Vienna - Salzburg (Rail pass) (EUR33.50)
Day 4 Salzburg
Day 5 Salzburg (Innsbruck) (Rail pass) (EUR27.65 x 2 r/t)
Day 6 Salzburg - Budapest (Rail pass) (EUR64.55)
Day 7 Budapest - (Bratislava) (Rail pass) (approx EUR44.5 r/t)
Day 8 Budapest - (Esztergrom)
Day 9 Budapest - Krakow (night Train) (Rail pass)(EUR 25 by bus)
Day 10 Krakow
Day 11 Krakow - Wieliczka Salt Mine (by tour)
Day 12 Krakow - Auschwitz (by tour)
Day 13 Krakow - Warsaw
Day 14 Warsaw
Day 15 Warsaw - Wroclaw
Day 16 Wroclaw
Day 17 Wroclaw - Prague (Rail pass) (no idea of price)
Day 18 Prague (Cesky Krumlov)
Day 19 Prague (Ceske Budejovice)
Day 20 Prague (Kutuna Hora)
Day 21 Prague
Day 22 Prague - Karlovy Vary
Day 23 Karlovy Vary - Prague (end)

I guess it is not a bad choice for me to buy a European East Pass cost
USD183 (5 days in one month) as train ticket in Austria is expensive
and train in between two countries is not that cheap.

I also found that the price I checked from website is more expensive
than book I checked in Lonely Planet. Like train I checked in Lonely
Planet printed in 2005 March price from Krakow - Warsaw stated 37zl but
website I checked is 77zl ... which one I should believe? Anyone have
idea for me?

Thanks for you guy great help!

I would remove Bratislava and Warsaw from the list, and perhaps
consider not doing Cesky Krumlov as a daytrip, as it's much better in
the evening when all the daytrippers have gone home.

You may also consider posting your message to misc.transport.rail.europe,
which more specialises in train travel aspects.

I object to that remark! ;-)

I haven't been for 10 years even thought it's only about an hour's drive
away. There weren't any people there in the evening in those days.

I have stated before that Bratislava is the least remarkable capital
in Europe, mainly because there are much better things to see in the
region. There is a big castle there, but the rest of the town is not
very exciting. Slovakia becomes much better when you head east.

Warsaw is ok, but you will probably be interested in the old town,
which has basically been completely reconstructed after the war, and a
such is not very old! I guess with an itinerary like that I would be
tempted to spend a few extra days in the other places.

there is no big castle in Bratislava as it is a paintings museum nowadays.
there is still a castle in ruins on top of the hill called DEVIN.

It seems like a lot of traveling, and not much seeing.....

I'd pare it down some so that I have more time to enjoy just a few
places, insted of spending so much time traveling....

I'd skip Ceske Budejovice in favor of Tabor or just another day in Prague...

85 zl - InterCity (2h45m)
77 zl - Express (2h50m)
43 zl - "fast" train (4,5 hours)

Surely this is the inevitable consequence of travelling by train.
It hardly makes sense to try and fit in: Cesky Raj, Moravian Karst,
The Tatras and Levoco without a car, unless you really like walking.

You can get to these places by Public Transport, but it's very
time consuming.

Your logistics seems odd to me, with a good deal of backtracking. Assuming
you fly into Vienna here's what you could do for the start of your trip:

Day 1 Vienna - Salzburg (it's a travel day anyway) (3 hours)
Day 2 Salzburg
Day 3 Salzburg (Innsbruck) (2x2 hours)
Day 4 Salzburg - Vienna (3 hours)
Day 5 Vienna
Day 6 Vienna - Bratislava (one hour)
Day 7 Bratislava - Budapest (3 hours)

You'll see the same things, but you'll spend less time on trains. Your old
itenary for days 1-7 had ~19 hours of train travel, will the this version
has 14 hours.
