OT: Brits use Adolf Hitler in anti-euro campaign
http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/uk_...00/2090583.stm
So what tasteless methods will be taken next by the anti-euro people? It is a
shame that Blair hasn't codemned this campaign. Soon, we'll kick the UK out of the
EU and they can join their real friends (or so they believe) at the other side of
the Atlantic.

Exactly what is tasteless about it?
Who exactly is offended - Hitler is being ridiculed, and the idea that EU
countries are one people with one currency is how the EU themselves portray
themselves is it not?
Is the offensive thing that British people are showing they can understand another
European language?
>It is a shame that Blair hasn't codemned this campaign.
Why would he want to show he is so lacking in understanding that he labels any humour
he doesn't understand/appreciate as offensive?

You're talking about kicking us out like that is a bad thing for ut- don't you know
that is what the campaign is all about. If you can do anything to accelerate the
process then all the better

Using the Hitler character in such a commercial.

He is not being ridiculed. What is being ridiculed is the fact that 12 nations have
democratically decided to use a common currency.

Hitler speaks English in the commercial.

You'll find out that it is an extremely bad thing for you. But I guess you want to
learn the hard way.

I still don't really grasp the tastelessness of it, what character would be
appropriate?

I disagree, the idea of a common currency for the UK with those 12 is being called
into question, that's different to ridiculing the other 12, what's right for 12
doesn't automatically make it not ridiculous for a 13th.
I certainly see the idea that there should be a "one realm, one people" (which is
said in german by hitler) as ridiculing both Hitlers ideas (which are abhorant) and
the Euro for the UK (which is just bad for the economy and independance.)

It does seem a bit off color and counter productive, but it appears that it has not
yet been released so how can so many have opinions already?
The UK does not need to join with anyone... she has done quite well on her own.

Re: Brits use Adolf Hitler in anti-euro campaign
Considering that all our cultures and values are different why do I want a German,
Italian. French or other European person having any say what-so-ever in how this
country is run? They all have their own agendas to benefit their own nations people.
We are already too far integrated into Europe. We should pull out now before the EU
forces any thing else onto us

Actually Britain was doing quite nicely before it joined the EU. I Dont recall
butter mountains and Spanish and Portuguese "fishing" fleets wiping the fish stocks
out either.
And Brussels bastards even forced haggis to be classified as delicatessan
meat! Argh!

the truly sad thing is how pathetic the whole thing comes off (esp. when when viewed
on internet video <G>) My question after watching this is, "Why would anyone want
these clowns included in their monetary or governmental affairs?"

Dream on on your little island.......and read some facts before you post more
nonsense. The EU doesn't force anything onto you. The British government -like all
other national governments- has a veto right on all major EU policies.

so you like the UK being run by Scots and Geordies? Or would you prefer it run by an
ex-public school cabal? Whats wrong with widening the democratic net?
Freedom for Wessex within a United Fed Of Europe works for me, thank you very much
Oh, BTW, the little I've seen of the video? Tasteless in an entirely predictable
manner, but then again, you seen how much your pound is worth against the EUR today??
