I'm reading this in rec.travel.europe, which is a fairly bizarre place
to express that opinion...

Some how I doubt if Ann Arbor is so cosmopolitan as to reflect the
values of the entire planet... and the range of people who would
want to visit it isn't going to match the variety that Dubrovnik
or Paris attracts, is it? (All I know about Ann Arbor is that it's
the home of University Microfilms International, and worthy as the
enterprise of preserving and distributing Ph.D. theses might be,
it's not going to draw people whose main thing is Renaissance art,
Biblical sites or sailboarding).

Hi,

it's one of the things that upsets the negroes so much.

the vietnamese, khmer, lao, whatever lands here with nothing, doesn't
even speak english.

in 5 years they're successful business owners and their kids are
valedictorians in school.

the negro has had decades of aid and is STILL at the bottom economically.

during the LA/King riots you noted the asian shopkeepers protecting
their businesses against the negro rioters/thieves.

ever notice it's never the other way around.

He came out in support of one of the fascist parties during the
1980s. Though I believe he's since repented of it (which is more
than either Clapton and Morrissey have done to distance themselves
from their respective ventures into the politics of middle-class
resentment).

The public figure who most closely resembles the average-over-the-
centuries British monarch in attitudes and private life is probably
Peter Stringfellow.

Its a cultural thing. They have grown used to being fed by the fat democratic
party. We should do away with welfare in this country and make them work
instead of letting them have 8 kids a piece and having the other races support
them. and yes I know all about the trailer park white trash.F them too, make em
work

Thats the fault of the original poster, stupid.

Doesnt need to, just enough of that for her.

Doesnt need to.

Irrelevant to what's enough for her.

It does, however, draw huge numbers of people whose main thing is puffing on
the hay, or buying kitschy crafts.

Ann Arbor is a great place, but thinking that it is a substitute for the
great wild world out there is delusional.

Agreements on what is an appropriate inter-European travel document do
predate Schengen.

But I can't see why Spanish folks couldn't get back on their ID card.
That does not sound right.

Pity she never did, JUST said that its enough for her.

Her choice.

You get to like that or lump it basically.

So you don't see the value of you and your neighbor in paying a lad to
wash your cars.

How shortsighted.

Don't you think the lad will put his money right back into the
economy?

Oh, you wouldn't like that. You want more "public services".

Be sure to get in touch with your local politician and tell him:

- You want to pay more in taxes (which I doubt that you pay much in
taxes now)

- You want more "public services".

From the attitude that you have expressed I strongly suspect that you
are on the dole and loving every minute of it.

Your request for more "public services" will probably mean many more
bureaucrats and five new levels of management.

I think that you miss the point. For EU citizens all that is required
to get thru immigration control in another EU country is a national ID.
Within Schengen there is no immigration control. That is done only
when you enter a Schengen country.

I don't think I would enjoy travel if limited to an "annual
vacation". Having to wait a year before I went somewhere again? I
tend to go to places I can revisit regularly, making some sort of
trip every month.

no doubt posted by a troll, but as often happens it gets people
talking in a sensible and interesting way.
